Lovely Greece

Hey Friends!
Another week in South Athens! This video was taken last week from the old port of Athens. I guess there were already boats coming here more than 2500 years ago! Athens is a lovely city in fall. It's not too hot but still enough to enjoy it and they are less tourists.
I felt my Heavenly Father love a lot this past week. It's crazy how much He is blessing us when we need him! It was a hard week but I felt discouraged He sent something to comfort me. I have been here for 5 weeks already but Greek is still very hard! But I love it! It's crazy how much we actually use Greek in English or French. For example, "monologue" is made of two Greek words, mono (one) and logue (voice). It is also a good language for gospel studies like the word metanoia (repentance) which is made of the words meta (change) and noia (mind). So repentance is a change of your mind, behavior,...
I love being a missionary in Greece. I know that even if it's hard, I was given the capacity to be a good missionary here, I kust need to use them!
Thanks for your love and prayers.

  1. Elder Gaillard!! It is amazing that you are really there and that you are really learning to communicate in Greek.

I sooo appreciate that you are writing about your experiences on this blog!! I also appreciate that blogs exist. It's a step up from letters that took a month to arrive when I was a missionary in France!

And your blog is written in English You are learning a new foreign language but you write about it in another non-native language. Acck!! C'est incroyable!

I can't believe so many years ago, I was out tracting with your mother!! Now here you are, out carrying on the task for us. This whole thing messes with my mind! It's crazy. But it's a wonderful crazy!!

Time rolls forward and the gospel is preached. Everyone takes their turn. Progress is being made. One by one by one.

Know that I'm following your blog and my prayers are following your footsteps. Be careful, be brave, be bold and most of all, always be kind.
I'll send more in a real letter! I admire you and send you my best hopes, wishes and prayers that you meet with success. Sometimes success is just clearing up a misconception, or a moment of creating goodwill for the Church. Everyday can have a bright spot in this way.
    Carry on !!
